A True Loss for the Gaming World

Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo since 2002 has died today of a bile duct growth, leaving behind one of gaming’s biggest marks and a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Nintendo delivered the news earlier today, saying “Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.”

As journalists, we usually present news the most informative, least personal way possible, but we feel that these news deserve a little more than that, growing up with masterpieces where Mister Iwata was involved as a programer with HAL Laboratories, games such as Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Hcountless Mario and The Legend of Zelda titles, along with one of the most important periods in history for Nintendo and the gaming industry, motion controls and the Wii.

Satoru Iwata is also responsible for what might be the most important factor in Nintendo’s future, their mobile games department and their partnership with DeNA. For the many, many things that we owe him, not only as an industry, but as human beings, may he rest in peace.
